Why Your Donation Matters

Each year, La Plata County Search and Rescue responds to dozens of emergency calls, from lost hikers and stranded climbers to injured backcountry adventurers and swift-water emergencies. Our dedicated volunteers are on call 24/7, 365 days a year, ready to assist anyone in need—at no cost to those we rescue.

But we can’t do it alone. Your donation directly funds:

• • Advanced communication tools like backcountry radios and GPS devices to improve search efficiency
  • Rescue gear including climbing ropes, helmets, and harnesses for technical rescues
  • Protective equipment like dry suits for swift-water rescues and avalanche beacons for winter emergencies
  • Specialized training for our volunteers to ensure they are prepared for every mission

By donating, you become part of our lifesaving mission. You help us bring people home, provide comfort to families in distress, and enhance safety in the wilderness.
